How important is strong leadership to you at the moment?

What does strong leadership look like to you? How would you describe it?

If it includes a human-centered, values-based foundation with a focus on mission, courage, compassion, and serving the greater good, I encourage you to check out Brene Brown’s latest release, Strong Ground.

I’ve read (and loved) nearly everything Brown has published, and Strong Ground is in a league of its own. Filled with present-day examples, realistic strategies, science-backed reasoning, and all imbued with compassion and humanity, I recommend this book whether you lead a team, an organization, a family, a community, a group of any sort, or are focused on being the leader in your own life. An excellent resource that highlights numerous other excellent resources as well.

“We need to invest in teaching people how to straddle the paradox of developing the toughness required to do hard things along with the tenderness required to thrive in their lives - to create meaningful relationships, to trust, to embrace vulnerability, and ultimately to live a wholehearted life.” - Brene Brown

I look forward to our rich discussions around this in the March meetings of the Reading And Purpose Nonfiction Book Club! And later in the month, we’ll also have our first quarterly discussion of the year - all about books and annotating which, as you can see, I did a fair amount of in Strong Ground! Members can participate via Zoom and/or in person.

If you’re not yet a member, upgrade your subscription and join us! All paid subscribers are automatically enrolled.

The Reading + Reflection Guide for Strong Ground is below, which includes reflection/discussion questions, alternative book suggestions on the topic, podcast episodes, YouTube videos, online resources for further exploration, meeting details, and more. And remember, you can participate in the meetings even if you don’t get the book completed - you’ll still have much to contribute and much to gain!
