This is such a great list! I've got to get a copy of The Perfectionist's Guide to Losing Control! I started Meditations for Mortals and like it, his writing is so conversational it feels like talking to a friend

That is an excellent way to describe Burkeman's writing - he manages to impart really good wisdom but in such a thoughtful, unforced manner. I'm glad you enjoyed the list - thank you for letting me know! I've been fortunate with a lot of great reads this year!

Really excited to dive into so many of these! I loved How to Know a Person, and so many others are on my list, especially Serviceberry and Grief is for People. Thanks for sharing!

New subscriber here and just reading through this list has already made it a great decision! I am heading to the bookstore today (some awesome gift ideas in here) and my own leaning tower of TBRs will soon be challenged to stay aloft! Thank you - can’t wait to see your Best of Fiction list!

I agree! I found it incredibly eye-opening, and Desmond has such an accessible writing style. A very important book - I'm glad you found it valuable, too!

All these books sound AMAZING! I've heard of many of these authors and either never read any of their stuff at all (just heard of them) or have read other books by them, not your recs. Thanks for this fantastic list! Adding to my towering TBR pile! 😄
